Audra McDonald's artistry is unmatched in the range and variety of her work as a singer, as well as an actor. In 2014, the Tony Awards most-decorated performer in 2014 was Billie Holiday, who she was in Lady Day At Emerson's Bar & Grill. This is identical to the role she performed during her performance in 2017's West End London debut for which she has been named for the Olivier Award. As the first actress to be awarded in four different acting categories, McDonald also beat the record in the total number of awards that an actor has been awarded. McDonald is also featured in The Secret Garden (1993), Marie Christine (1999), Henry IV (2004), 110 In the Shade (2007 Twelfth night (2009) and Shuffle Along: A Story of the Making of the Musical Shock of 1921 and All That Followed (2016). McDonald was the first to make her Public Theater Shakespeare in the Park debut on Twelfth Nacht (2009). McDonald was first introduced to the television audience as a dramatic actor in Peabody Award winning CBS's Having Our Say the Delany Sisters first 100 years. The year 1999 saw her co-starred with Kathy Bates in ABC's acclaimed remake of Annie. In addition, she played a recurring part in NBC's Law & Order Special Victims Unit in 2000. McDonald's Emmy-nominated performance as Emma Thompson on Mike Nichols' HBO film adaptation of Pulitzer Prize winner Wit was directed by Mike Nichols. McDonald's return to television networks came in 2003 as she appeared alongside Josh Brolin in Mister Sterling. The Bedford Diaries on the WB in early 2006 and Kidnapped, NBC. McDonald earned a nomination for a Fourth Emmy in 2016, for her role in HBO's movie of Lady Day, at Emerson's Bar and Grill. The Bite is a drama with six episodes based on the pandemic that was co-produced through Spectrum Originals & CBS Studios. She appeared in the show with Taylor Schilling & Steven Pasquale. McDonald was first seen as U.S. lawyer Liz Lawrence (now Liz Reddick), in CBS's legal thriller The Good Wife, in 2009. In 2018, she recast that role in The Good Fight for Paramount+ as a regular in the series. Her performance received three Critics Choice Award Nominations. She is also a guest for the HBO series The Gilded Age by Julian Fellowes.
